I’ve been quietly building Gearz since 2019.
I’m Alec. I’m a car enthusiast, I’ve been part of the car community for a long time, and part of my career was spent running events, ticketing and rentals. Gearz is what all of that turned into.
- 2019Started building, in stealth
- 1Person building it. Me.
- 0Algorithms deciding your feed
- PHXFirst city on the map
Car guy first. Event guy second.
I’ve been around the car scene for a long time, and the best moments in it have never happened on a screen. They happen in a parking lot early in the morning, coffee in hand, talking to someone you just met about their build.
Part of my career was in event management: ticketing, rentals, and the systems that get people through the gate. That job taught me how event software should work, and how often it doesn’t. Hosts end up juggling apps, people miss what’s happening right down the street, and nobody gets anything for actually showing up.
Ever since that job, I’ve been putting those skills into Gearz. I started building it in 2019 and kept it quiet while I got it right. It’s built by someone who’s been parking next to you at meets, not by a marketing team.

How we got here
- BEFORE
Running events
Event management, ticketing and rentals. Learning what the software gets wrong.
- 2019
First lines of Gearz
Built quietly, in stealth, around how car meets actually work.
- NOW
Pre-launch, Phoenix first
Opening city by city so every map has real meets on day one.
- NEXT
Your city
The waitlist decides the order. Add yours.
There’s no algorithm. The algorithm is you.
Gearz doesn’t decide what you see. Nothing gets ranked over anything else and nothing gets pushed in front of your scene.
What you see is what’s happening in your community right now, and the clubs you’re subscribed to. That’s it. Follow more clubs and your feed gets bigger. Go to more meets and your community grows with it.
The only thing Gearz scores is you showing up. Your Gearhead Score rewards going to meets and helping other members, and it never decides what anyone sees.

Get out of your phone and into an event.
Gearz is built to bring people together and get them out. It rewards you for being part of your community, not for scrolling through it.
Show up
Check in at the meet and it counts. Showing up is the whole point.
Get involved
Comment, post up your build, show up for your clubs. Being part of it counts too.
Keep your word
When you RSVP, show up. Fewer no-shows means hosts can plan, and meets get better.
Earn it
Your Gearhead Score (0 to 999) grows when you show up to meets and help other members.
Gearz is in pre-launch, starting in Phoenix.
I’m building it in public, one city at a time. If something’s broken or missing, tell me at feedback.gearz.io.
See you at the next meet.ALEC
